This Autumn the Aldgate and Allhallows Foundation is saying a fond farewell to our former Deputy Chairman Robin Hazlewood FRSA, who has served on our Board for over three decades.
A distinguished artist and former Vice President of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colour, Robin also had a long and fulfilling career in teaching.
He has held a number of prominent academic positions, including Head of Putney School of Art, Dean of the former Sir John Cass School of Art and Design at City of London Polytechnic from 1985 to 1986, and Vice Provost from 1986, remaining in post through the transition to university status (as London Guildhall University) in 1992. He retired from teaching in 1995, remaining active as an artist.
Robin has also given his time and expertise generously to the Third Sector. Along with his work at the Foundation, he has been an adviser to the Trust for London for over two decades, as well as a Trustee or director of a number of charitable institutions, including Heatherley’s School of Art.
Robin became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1987 and received the Freedom of the City of London and of the Goldsmiths’ Company in 1994.
We are immensely grateful for Robin’s long and dedicated service to the Foundation and to the cause of education in Tower Hamlets and the City of London. Robin’s expertise, thoughtfulness and insight have been invaluable in helping us be an effective grant maker and advocate for our beneficiaries.
